Local conditions
Along the Clark Fork
Deer Lodge sits in the valley of the upper Clark Fork River, with the Flint Creek Range to the west. The town has a long history, from the old territorial prison to the Grant-Kohrs Ranch on its north edge, and a lot of its homes sit under shade trees that were planted generations ago. Big old trees like that are worth a careful look before they start dropping limbs.
Cottonwoods and willows along the river and creeks grow fast and big, and their wood is soft and prone to breaking in wind and heavy snow. When a big limb or a whole trunk fails near a house, it can do real damage. Crown thinning and deadwooding can take weight off a tree that is still sound, and a controlled removal in pieces is the safe answer for one that is past saving.

Deer Lodge questions
Do you work in Deer Lodge?
Yes. Deer Lodge is one of the towns we serve from Butte. Call or text (406) 490-0449 with your address to set up a free estimate.
Can a big cottonwood be pruned so it does not have to come down?
Sometimes. Crown thinning and removing dead or weak limbs can take weight off a tree and make it safer. If the trunk or root base is failing, removal is the safer call. Jeremiah will tell you honestly which one your tree needs.
Do you clean up after the job?
Yes. We chip and haul every limb and leave the yard clean. Stump grinding is available if you want the stump gone too.
Got a tree in Deer Lodge that needs work?
