Tree work in Butte

Over The Top Tree Service is a Butte company. Jeremiah Roberts and his crew take on tree work all over town, from the old streets of Uptown down to the Flats, and up the hill in Walkerville next door.

A Butte job starts the same way every time. Call or text (406) 490-0449, send a photo if you can, and Jeremiah comes out to walk the property and give you a free estimate. When the work is done we chip and haul every limb and leave the yard clean.

Local conditions

Trees in an old mining town

Butte sits at about 5,500 feet, right up against the Continental Divide, so its trees live with long cold winters, heavy snow and a short growing season. Uptown's streets were laid out long before anyone planned for big trees, and a lot of the cottonwoods, spruce and willows planted generations ago now stand tight against houses, garages, fences and overhead lines.

That is the kind of removal we do best. When a tree has outgrown a narrow Butte lot, we take it down in pieces and lower each one on a rope, or bring in crane or bucket support when climbing is not the safe call. Heavy, wet snow in spring and fall can crack limbs and split leaders, so dead and weak wood is worth pruning out before it comes down on its own.

Good to know

Butte questions

Where in Butte do you work?

All over town, including Uptown, the Flats and Walkerville next door. We are based in Butte, so a job here is close to home. Call or text (406) 490-0449 to set up a free estimate.

Can you take down a big tree in a tight Butte yard?

Yes. Large, hazardous and tight-quarter removals are our specialty. We take the tree down in pieces, lower each one with rigging, protect the house, garage and fence underneath, then haul everything away.

Should I have my trees pruned before winter?

If a tree has dead limbs, a split leader or branches hanging over the roof, it makes sense to deal with them before heavy snow loads them up. Jeremiah can look at the tree and tell you what should be pruned and what can be left alone.
