Local conditions
Boulder River country
Boulder sits along the Boulder River with timbered hills on either side of the valley, and a lot of the homes around town are on bigger lots or acreage with pine and fir close by. Thinning those trees back from buildings, clearing out dead and down timber and opening up a driveway or a trail are all jobs our forestry division handles.
In town, the big shade trees along the older streets need the same care as anywhere in Southwest Montana: dead limbs out before the snow loads them, clearance from roofs and lines, and a careful removal in pieces when a tree is past saving.
Jefferson County winters bring heavy snow and hard wind, and trees on open ground take the brunt of it. After a storm we can clear broken limbs and downed trees from driveways, fences and roofs, then chip and haul the debris so the place is usable again.
